Cambodian Garment Factory Association said 4 days of labor strike make this sector lost USD15millions while on 18-09-10 the lost is around USD7 millions.
According to press release said, the strike by less than 20.000 workers make at least 30 garment factories meet the problem. Therefore, the court order all worker back work except some has to wait the court’s verdict.
On 18-09-10 a high ranking officer of the Cambodian Garment Factory Association said 4 days of labor strike make this sector lost only about USD 7 millions, Cambodian Express News Report report on 18-09-10.
There were at least 20 garment factories suffered by the impact of the strike make by Cambodian Trade and Worker Unions, Mr. Cheat Khemra, Cambodian Garment Factory Association told that source told the website at that time.
The labor strike has been help in Cambodia from September 13-16 in an attempt to increase the salary wage of the workers up to USD 93 per month however in July the government of Cambodia decide to increase from USD 56 to USD61 per month.
Garment is the biggest export product of Cambodia. This year Minister of Commerce Mr. Cham Prasidh used to estimate that the garment export would reach USD 2.600 millions when last year only USD 2.418 millions.
