The government of Cambodia today say in 2009 EU buy Cambodian rice around 2100 tones and expect to buy more this year.
Mr. Mao Thora, Secretary of State of Commerce said in a conference in 2009 EU bought Cambodian rice around 2100 tones and under Agence France pour Development (AFD) promise to provide around USD10 millions to USD 15 millions as loan to improve the rice miller machines in the country, we expect to meet the Cambodian’s ambitious.
“With this, we hope that in 2015, our rice export will be around 1 millions tones as we set the target”, he said.
Mr. Uth Ren, Secretary General of SMI said, in a business visit in EU from September 12 to24 we get 192 tones contract from Latvia, and Lithuania, while 480 tones from Belarus, and 240 tones from Russian and some from Poland.
Easter Europe is one of the main potential for Cambodian rice market, he said.
