Cambodian Need yearly 5.5million ton of fuel wood and charcoal

Fuel wood and charcoal is a major energy source for local consumption  and the annual of the total consumption is estimated around 5.5 million ton.

S. Yohanes Iwan Baskoro, geres representative said in a seminar last week that fuel wood and charcoal account around 70% of the total national energy demand.

84% of the households in Cambodia meet their energy need through fuel wood, he said.

In rural area the average of fuel wood consumption per family is around 5Kg per day while in urban there was around 2.1 kg in the average, he said.

Fuel wood and charcoal still popular in Phnom Penh, the capital city of the country, where there are annually 650,000 ton has been consumed while it predicted that it will be an important energy source in next 30 years.
