Nearly 2 million people among 6 millions in 11 provinces in Cambodia are poor, Identification of the Poor Family Program of Ministry of Planning’s statistic quote by Deum Ampil Media Center.
The report said the most vulnerable people found in Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Kampong Chhnaing, Pailin, Posat, Siem Rep, Kandal, Takeo, Kratie, PreahVihear, and Odar Meanchey province.
The Poor Family Program of the Ministry of Planning found that the poor are found in 398,170 families or 1,766,597 people among 1,345,986 families or 5,833,136 people in those eleven provinces.
In Cambodia, the people who live in poverty is the people who lack food, house, cloth, and medical service.
The United Nation Development Program’s report on Human Capital Implications of Future Economic Growth in Cambodia said the poverty rate in the country in 2010 down to 25.8%.
Among the 24 provinces and capital city, the most vulnerable province is Preah Vihear, Ratanakiri and Stung Treng.
In Preah Vihear poverty rate was found 41.5%, Ratanakiri 41.2, and Stung Treng 41.1% while Phnom Penh, Capital city of Cambodian found only 0.1%, Kandal 15.9% and Kampot 19.1%, according to the Cambodia’s predictive poverty rates by province computed from commune database states in the report.
In 2004, the poverty rate in Cambodia was found 35.1%, down to 27.4% in 2009.
