The latest figure from the National Committee for Disaster Management showed that as of Tuesday, the floods hitting Cambodia since August have killed at least 164 people and about 215,662 families with 291,000 hectares of rice paddies have been affected.
On the public infrastructure side, the floods have affected more than 200 kilometers of national roads and up to 2,019 kilometers of gravel roads, it said.
On October 01, Prime Minister Hun Sen said he recent flood is worse than one in 2000, and Killed 148 people, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen said in the public address on last Saturday.
According to the National Committee of the Disaster Management’s statistic, on September 30 there were 148 people were died, including 52 children and 170,000 families were flooded, 17,000 families were evacuated, prime minister Hun Sen said.
In the meantime, there were 270,000 hectares of rice crops were affected and 80,000 hectares were destroyed, he added.
Cambodian Premier said there are much works to be done for the affect areas, such as provision of food, shelters, medicines and clean waters.
