The China National Offshore Oil Corporation will begin to drill an oil well to start its oil and gas exploration in Cambodia’s offshore, nearly 40 kilometers south off the coast of Sihanoukville, Rasmei Kampuchea Daily report yesterday.

According to the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)’s report, the company will start drilling an oil well in block F between October and December 2011, Mr. Mam Sambath, chairman of the Cambodians for Resource Revenue Transparency (CRRT) told media yesterday.
It is the first company that has studied the environmental impact before its exploration, said Mr. Mam Sambath, appreciating the procedure, which conforms to the regional and international standards of the mines exploration.
Cambodia hoped to get the first drop of oil produced at the end of 2012.
