IMF said Cambodia expect to growth at 6.7%

This year, Cambodia’s economic growth will be to 6.7%, up from the 6.5% in the previous prediction, International Monetary Fund (IMF)’s Regional Economic Outlook today said.

According to the new forecast; in Asean; Cambodia ranked number 2 followed Laos with 8.3%, Indonesia 6.4%, Vietnam 5.8%, Myanma 5.5%, Singapore 5.3%, Malaysia 5.2%, Philippine 4.7%, Thailand 3.5% and Brunei 2.8%.

On Tuesday, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Economy and Finance H.E. Keat Chhon said Cambodia’s economic growth this year will be only 6%.

The floods, and uncertain economic situation in America, and EU, the two major Cambodian product buyers  have affected Cambodia’s export products, therefore the economic growth that Cambodian have expected at 7 percent will go down to 6 percent in 2011, he said.

In mid of last month, Asia Development Bank said Cambodian economic growth in 2011 was expected at 6.8 %.
