Prime Minister Hun Sen: No Boat Racing this Year

Cambodia this year cancel the national water festival that plan to host on November 9-11 due to the flash flood, announced by Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Speaking at the opening of the cabinet minister meeting, premier Hun Sen said no boat racing and big crowding in Phnom Penh this year, but the other traditional celebrations are normally celebrated.

Premier said most of the boat came from the flood affecting areas, each boat has to spend not less than 10 million riel and crowding in Phnom Penh is a losing opportunity.

Last year there were around 420 boats come to race and attracts around 3 million visitors, and during the last day of the festival there were 349 people died and 555 injured in an incident happened at the north bridge of Koh Pich.
