Today there are at least 3,000 of human’s dung was scattered in the environment in the country, Minister of Rural Development of Cambodia ‘s officer said recently.
Among the 3,000 tons, there are around 234 tones and 2,300 m3 of human’s urine are contaminated to the water resource , Mr. Thei Chan To, officer at the department of rural health promotion said.
According to Mr. Thei Chan To, in a gram of human dung has 10 million bacteria, 1 million virus, 1000 parasites, and 100-worm egg, he said.
Until now among 14 million people there are only 4 million people who access the toilet, he said.
According to a report done by world bank in recently year, Cambodia lost around USD 444 million a year because of the lack of sanitation. Among them tourism was USD 73 million, health USD 187 million, water contamination USD 150 million.
