AEON Mall, a Japanese company plan to build USD 6 million in Cambodia, its Chief Executive Officer Soichi Okazaki told Cambodian Premier Hun Sen this morning at the Peace Hall.
Mr. Ieng Sophalet, Assistant to the Prime Minister told reporter that the supermall would generate from 1,500 to 2,500 jobs.
“From today to 2020, AEON Mall plan to invest USD 6 million in its first step and build a supermall in Phnom Penh, and then will expand to the other provinces”, he said.
In the meeting with Mr. Soichi Okazaki, Cambodia Prime Minister welcome this interesting investment plan and said Council for the Development of Cambodia(CDC) will further recommend the project, he said.
AEON Mall is a specialist shopping mall developer in the world and the largest retailing group in Japan that has been using the rich know-how in retailing built up by one of its core companies.
According to Mr. Ieng Sophalet, AEON Mall has experience in Cambodia culture since 1998.
The company has constructed 149-school building in Cambodia and in December the company will plan to build one more school building.
According to the CDC, in the first 9 month of the year Cambodia attracted USD 5.67 billion, but Japan investor was not in the list of the top five foreign investors.
The biggest foreign investors are England with the total promised investment of USD 2.22 billion, followed by domestic investors USD 1.36 billion, China with USD 1.14 billion, Vietnam with USD 246 million, and Malaysia was USD 230 million.
